Foodista: New Wiki-esque Food Site

My friend Amy P. just dropped this on me, apparently launched last evening. The Foodista site wants to be a collective recipe box, the way Wikipedia wants to be your encyclopedia. The site has a companion blog and allows you to comment on recipes, borrowing one of the best features of epicurous.com. It's got a great yet simple layout, and at first search some solid basics for recipes.

When you search a category of food like "soup," you get recipe results along the left side and related food and techniques on the right. Users can upload their own photos to tack on to recipe pages, and there's also a place to link a relevant, personal blog post. For shits and giggles I searched cookies and came up with something that rivals my eggnog recipe for days removed from your life: shortbread cookie recipe (via Foodista)

I think I'll stick to the soups, and I think this site would work best if they advertised weekly themed pitches for recipes, like a culinary flash mob. For example, everyone should go right now and upload their favorite family, holiday cookie recipe to share with the class. I'll show you mine...
