...Beginning at 4:00pm, Part one of Elysian's Pumpkin Beer Festival starts with the tapping of the Great Pumpkin this weekend. Elysian will pour the fall beers you may know (Night Owl), and many you don't for this special occasion. Capitol Hill location (1221 E. Pike St.) Part two to follow next week at Elysian Fields.
1:00pm to 6:00pm in the NIckerson Street Saloon parking lot: One of the Northwest's little-big breweries, Deschutes, brings their Neighborhood Hops party to Queen Anne. All beer proceeds go to local charities (Puget Soundkeeper, RFK Jr.s org which I support fervently, and Gilda's Club Seattle). It's a blatant ploy for consumer loyalty, but some marketing guy should be congratulated on the formula.
1:00pm to 4:00pm at Esquin, have your wine and beer, too! They will pour selections from Eric Solomon's Spanish portfolio. These are not your common aggressively friendly supermarket wines. These are nuanced, grown up wines that show Spain offers value for everyone and every taste. (I know I've mentioned them a few times lately, but they make finding out about their tastings easy. HINT! And they've had some good ones lately.)
SUNDAY October 21st:
12:00noon to 4:00pm: Sample Chelan Gold ciders at Portalis in Ballard (5205 Ballard Ave. NW). Cider tastings are rare around town; this is a chance to taste five. The air will be blustery and the skies cloudy, perfect for treating yourself to a sunny harvest afternoon, albeit from a bottle.
