Recommend? Yes, but bring earplugs.

I was famished.

Breakfast didn't go well, and I walked briskly to this joint, which I discovered on Saturday as one of the only places open for lunch downtown that's not a stone's throw from Westlake Center.

I tried the corned beef on my first visit, and was hooked the moment I noticed I could add horseradish to my sandwich, too often overlooked. Good sandwich, but the corned beef wasn't stacked high enough.

I had already made up my mind before I went in that I was going to try one of the lunch specials, which, I remember from my first visit as be particularly generous for less than $6. Today's (Thursday) special was exactly what I needed: Any whole sandwich with a slice of apple pie. It hit the spot.

Now the bad news: The guy sitting next to me felt it appropriate to walk his friend through every step of his recent kidney stone experience, right down to the moment of relief, and his efforts to retrieve his souvenir to show his doctor.sprints2.jpg
