(SATURDAY and beyond, Denver) Breweries visited: Oh! What time is it? Is it the Saturday night session already!? Gee whiz, I guess I never left the afternoon session. They just sort of ran together.
Talking to a guy from Craft Beer Radio, I confirm that most brewers will take off once done celebrating and most media ditch the evening session. At 5:40pm I see why. An army of half-drunk beer Orcs are bum-rushing the pavilion. Exit, stage right. I thought I could slog through, but I already got groped enough last night, thank you very much. I hung out for a bit at Flying Dog (I'm just a sucker for their beer and packaging), and then hit the bunk.
I want to thank the Brewers Association for being so helpful and making me feel so welcome, especially as a first timer. I'd especially like to thank all the volunteers and old pros--attendees and media alike--for offering advice and sharing their favorite beers with me. I have enough material for over a year's worth of columns (don't think I'd give it all up on the blog). I'll also post my top picks and notes later in the week for download, once the glamour wears off.
You bet your ass I'll be back next year and with a much more sensible bag to carry all of my crap. That was my only hardship, juggling my glass, a camera, a DVR, a program, and a pen (luckily I've had tons of practice). So who wants to be my technology shirpa in '08? Hmm...Seely?
