Fusion No More

It used to be Thai-Moroccan...

One of the genres of restaurants that I love is the ones that specialize in (seemingly) odd fusion: Mexican-German, Indian pizza. The food has generally been miss-or-hit at these places, but who can resist Chinese & donuts?

In that spirit, I had lunch this week at Jasmine, the Pike Place Market spot (1520 Post Alley)  whose claim to fame since 2004 has been its Moroccan and Thai food, thanks to Kanniga Anderson and Zack Desafi.

Not any more.

The photos on the wall are now only dishes like phad Thai, green curry, and garlic chicken. We asked the guy at the cash register if he was still making couscous. New owners, he said. As of last week. I settled for the new grilled chicken with green salad and rice. Tasty, but no Moroccan diaffa with a side of som tum.
