This Friday and Saturday in St. Edwards Park (maybe you attended the Brewer's Festival Dad's weekend?), the Washington Beer Commission throws their "First Annual Oktoberfest." Though, semantically speaking, it can not be called an "annual" until the second such event occurs. But I digress.
$25 gets you a mug and 12 tokens, which is a most excellent deal. Over two dozen breweries will pour their autumnal brews and assorted whatnot. And! There will be actual Oompah Music!!*** I'm looking forward to these in particular:
Diamond Knot's lager all the way from Mukilteo, the Black Bart--a German schwarzbier from Port Townsend Brewing (it's like the bittersweet chocolate of beer). And I love, love, love Hale's O'Brien's Harvest Ale on draft (as I've written about before). Maritime, Alpine, and Baron--among others--will all pour tried and true Oktober brew, and Elysian and Elliot Bay brewing will face off with pumpkin ales ( the Night Owl and Mashing Pumpkin, respectively). And so much more, in a beautiful setting on what is predicted to be two beautiful days.
