On a recent scenic stroll of Georgetown, I ran across an application for a liquor license, posted in a storefront space across the street from All City Coffee: Via Tribunali is opening a new space there, named Pizza Vita, at 6009 12th Ave. South.
Expect to have to wait a while for this snobby, thin-crust pizza place, as the storefront is still very much under construction. Via Tribunali was begun by Michael McConnell, who previously founded Caffe Vita - thus the name. This small spot might just become a pizza cafe, perhaps without the high snob factor of the Capitol Hill location -- which no doubt will suit Georgetown just fine.
A bit farther south (close to a park where the plane-watching is especially good) there's another new restaurant moving in: Squid & Ink, at 1128 South Albro Place, across from a tree nursery that backs right up to Boeing Field. A vegan place, according to the sign, though the interior color scheme (electric blue walls and black trim) leaves one wondering about the menu...
Does anyone know more about this place, who's running it, what sort of vegan food we should expect?
