I'll admit that shopping for my weekly groceries at the Uptown Metropolitan Market is a bit of an indulgence, especially with a Safeway just a few blocks away. But I'm a sucker for ambiance, presentation, and really friendly employees, and that's worth paying a bit more every week. However, I was unprepared for just how much more I paid the other day. I walked out thinking, man, that was way more than the week before. Then I checked the receipt and realized that I had unwittingly bought a four-pack of blueberry muffins for $42.32. That works out to be $10.58 per muffin, and while they are very delicious, that's out of my budget. And it wasn't just a checker error--the muffins had actually been labeled $42.32. When I pointed this out to the cashier, she was very apologetic and promptly refunded the difference (regular price: $3.99).
The muffins, by the way, had nothing but blueberries in them.
