Sometimes, It's Good To Be A Tourist

Fuel a walk in the park with Essential Baking

Whenever I have to leave the city, I love driving back on I-5, just south of the U District. Whammo, the supreme beauty of the city hits you in that all encompassing view of Lake Union, the needle and the mountains. I always have one of those "this is why I live here" moments.

When the weather starts to get as nice as it is right now, it's fun to act like a tourist in your own city. If you take a stroll around Gasworks Park, you can gawk as long as you want at that stellar view of our fair city. Stop in at Essential Baking Company's cafe on N. 34th & Woodlawn in Wallingford first a portable breakfast. Many cafes and retail outlets sell some of Essential's breads and pastries; it's easy to take them for granted. But the selection is so much more at their cafe: Bostocks, Italian slippers, galettes and gorgeous danishes with pastry cream and almond filling. It's the perfect morning break for your regular routine. With, or without out-of-town guests.
