M. Bison

Claiming one of the most diabolical villains in video game history as their namesake, this foursome might be mistaken for either drum-heavy hardcore types in blood-red military garb (and blue-hot fists of flame), or nostalgic, melodious fellows reminiscent of Ben Folds Five. Seattle’s M. Bison is most definitely the latter, but let’s be honest—both bands sound kick-ass. Officially forming in 2006, songwriters Jeff Grant and Brian Kinsella, along with brothers Nick and Chris Jones of Bad Dream Good Breakfast (also performing), began churning out light, danceable pop with polished vocals, handclaps and infectious “ooohs” and “ahhhs.” Amid a rigorous touring schedule, the band released their six-song EP Not Bad in 2007. I’m guessing they don’t just play Street Fighter all day.
