Wednesday, July 23 You know that saying, “reeks of potential?†Well, the phrase is apt for Bellingham trio Jet Lag Palm. These boys seem to have come up with a particularly intoxicating aroma that possesses a heavy, heavy top note of Replacements , an under note of Wilco, wispy hints of Whiskeytown on a bender, The Boss and Budweiser. With Ryan Purcell, Sean Knox and the Lonely Lovers, Lucky Suns. Comet Tavern, 922 E. Pike St., 323-9853, 8 p.m. Listen to Break In Two.
Thursday, July 24 Since her days collaborating with the late, great Gram Parsons, Emmylou Harris has been an increasingly ubiquitous presence on other performers’ records. In her enduring selflessness, there can be little debate that Harris is alt-country’s matron saint. Hence, her visit to the Zoo should have an air of royalty to it, amidst the picnic baskets, giraffes, and elephant dung. SOLD OUT, 5 p.m., $29.50. Woodland Park Zoo, 601 N. 59th St., 684-4800, 6 p.m. Listen to Blue Kentucky Girl.
