On Not Reviewing Shrek: Ethics and Greed: Actually book reviewers do get Advanced Reading Copies that make clear that the book may change before its official publication date. These ARCs also make clear that they are not for public sale. Neither are film rough cuts put in theaters and sold to the public as if it was the final product. One cannot say that about these shows. They are being sold for public consumption. The critic, I thought, was there for the viewer's benefit, not the artists or producers. While he was incarcerated he became dehydrated, caught the Asian flu and almost died due to a lack of medical treatment that he'd repeatedly requested. A chicano guard threatened to put him in isolation when he was completely immobilized due to the sickness, he told him: If I die, it will be on your conscience. Finally he was admitted to a hospital. Shackled to a hospital bed, a nurse told him that if they had waited one day longer to get him in he most likely would have died. - Submitted by Helen from Seattle
