Why Don't Record Labels Offer Their Artists Health Insurance?: Now, almost anyone who is a self-employed 'independent contract' can get their own health insurance coverage, but it will cost more for less coverage; they just have to suck it up and pay the higher premium for an individual policy, unless they can tag along on their spouse's group policy. That's if they get medical insurance at all. A lot of low income self-employed people go without health insurance.
