Entering two (or more) words will find only results with both words contained.
George Washington will find results with George Washington, but also if George Smith visited Washington.
Searching for words in quotes will find the words only in that order.
"George Washington" will only find the full name George Washington and not if the text says "Washington, George".
Entering a - before a word will exclude it from the search.
George -Washington will find only results with George without any Washington in the text.
Entering a "pipe" | will act like OR (OR works too).
So George | Washington will bring up stories with either George or Washington in them (or both).
You can use parentheses to combine searches.
George (Washington | Hamilton) will find George Washington or George Hamilton
Adding a * as a wild card will allow you to search for compound words or word variants.
For example searching forest* will find forester, forests, foresting, etc. Similarly searching *less would find sleeveless, faithless, etc.
