Avatar Darko's Soviet Goonion 2 is Av's Best Work Since The Iron Curtain

To get you caught up: Premium-grade local rap slanger Avatar Young Blaze has changed his handle to Avatar Darko (a combination of a couple of previous names), and is rapping better than ever. For his brand new full-length project, Soviet Goonion 2 (the logical follow-up to Soviet Goonion), he's teamed up with fifteen year-old Ukrainian producer Dirtbag Dexter, and a number of other post-Lex Luger trap-scapers (including Wiz Khalifa affiliates Sledgren & Cardo) who've managed to make better current wave street instrumentals than most any other trap-style producers out right now. Their wicked beats have naturally brought out Av's fieriest bars, and he raps as confidently and stylishly as you'd hope. He moves from crack-up wordplay ("Topanga and Cory/I be wangin' your shorty") to striking personal history ("I lost my mind about fifteen years-old/When My pops died, yeah, I really seen the dark side/then I lost my uncle, it was blood in a shark's eye") that give the album a balance that Av hasn't achieved with such authority since he gave us The Iron Curtain, making it his best release to date, and the best local release I've heard in a minute.
