A lot went into writing your favorite song, but how much do you really know about it? Today Kevin Singleton, guitarist of Chicago aggressive rock band The Action Blast, delves into the most personal thing he's ever written, losing a loved one and learning from mistakes.

Song: "Erased"

Album: TBA

Release Date: 2014

Where it was written: In my car, work, bathroom, practice - I pieced this song together a little bit just about everywhere.

Favorite line in the song: "Looking to others your making a scar, walking away from who you really are." This line runs deeper than anyone would really know.

Which part was the hardest to come up with: I would have to say my favorite line. Hard because it's the most personal and vulnerable thing I've written, but it had to come out. Everyone makes a scar here and there, and one that they wish they could forget. The scar I've made isn't going anywhere and I wouldn't have it any other way, it reminds me of who I have to always be.

If you could go back and change anything, what would it be: I wouldn't change anything. I love this song exactly how it is.

Odd fact about song: The words "finding a reason" in the second verse of "Erased" are there because of a song I wrote years ago. I know I can't perform it anymore and an opportunity came to Incorporate it in a new song, so I did.

What was your inspiration for writing the song: I sliced the back of my head over two years ago for a new hair cut and realized when it was done that it was the least of my worries. I thought I had to be like everybody in order to be successful like everybody else. I'm proving my self wrong these days!

When was your favorite time performing it live: The first time we ever played it was unexpected. It was at a place called The Freight House Pub and we randomly decided to play it and oh my god it sounded so good live. It pounded so hard and felt so good and was fun to sing. Kinda like the first time you get on a roller coaster.

What is the meaning behind the song: This song is about the battle between who you are and who you want to be. We can always better out selfs but not change. We can always grow but not plant a new seed. A lot of the times as humans we are sucked into temptation and thought. I was once tempted to become something else that I thought would better my career and all it did was scar me for life. As quoted in our song, "Only Seconds," "There could be only seconds, only seconds left till we review ourselves. I know where my life sits now, and it's taken the life of an angel to show me how." A family member near and dear to me passed and that's what it took to for me to understand the true meaning and purpose of my life.
