The U-District's brand-new gallery Heartland, is opening its door this Saturday, January 12 with a show featuring Mount Eerie, Ashley Eriksson, and Thousands. It's a benefit for the Heartland, with a sliding scale door cover of $7-$20, and free food is promised on the Facebook invite. It's a rare opportunity to see a very clean music venue.
And in case you missed it, Mount Eerie recently played a Washington, D.C. show at Folger Shakespeare Library's theater, with no one in attendance but NPR's film crew. Phil Elverum dubbed it "an absurd concert to nobody." After the jump, watch a video of Elverum and his bandmates Allyson Foster and Paul Benson performing Mount Eerie's "Ocean Roar," off one of two full-lengths released last year. Elverum strums a nylon string while Foster and Benson sing along.
