BOAT is prepping the release of Pretend To Be Brave, the follow-up to their 2011 LP Dress Like Your Idols. The new record will be out on March 12 via Magic Marker Records, and in the lead time until then, they're hyping up their new tunes with a little help from their friends. Pre-orders of Pretend To Be Brave will come with a bonus cassette and mp3 download of Pretend To Be BOAT, a track by track recreation of the album by some of BOAT's favorite bands. BOAT is going to be releasing a cover song, an original, or some album artwork each Monday until Pretend's release. Yesterday was the first BOAT Monday, inaugurated with the release of Throw Me The Statue's cover of BOAT's new song, "Sharpshooters."
The cover is dark, sleek, and velvety, sounding nothing like BOAT's brawny pop-rock sound. I'm guessing BOAT's "Sharpshooters" will sound nothing like TMTS's "Sharpshooters." Those BOAT boys sure are creative--it's an intriguing way to preview the band's new music.
After the jump, check out Pretend To Be Brave's tracklisting--and which bands are going to be covering each song.
