The Seattle quintet Heatwarmer--vocalist/bassist Luke Bergman, keyboardist Aaron Otheim, guitarist Kristian Garrard, keyboardist/occasional EWI-ist Andrew Swanson, and drummer Evan Woodle--has completed its self-titled debut full-length. It doesn't have a release date right now--you can sign up for the band's mailing list on their website and have more details sent to you as they arrive--but they did film a video for the record's first single, "Rejoice."

The clip was directed by Jake Knapp and depicts Heatwarmer playing a house party in a basement, which is no small feat for the 6-foot-6-inch Bergman. When Heatwarmer headlined Chop Suey earlier this month, their encore was a blistering, surprisingly accurate cover of Nirvana's "Breed." "Rejoice" is more standard Heatwarmer fare--super-intricate instrumentation that takes uncountable unexpected twists and turns in the space of five minutes. (Watch for Otheim's mind-boggling frenetic keyboard solo that starts around 3:50). It's music that could accurately be described as a schizoid carnival pop.

Heatwarmer will play the U-District's Heartland on Friday, February 8.
