So, Reverb Fest happens all day tomorrow at a variety of venues in Ballard, and there's some legit great stuff to see: Arrington De Dionyso, OC Notes, Haunted Horses, Brain Fruit, Erik Blood, Midday Veil, and lots more. (More on the whole thing here.) BUT! If you're not going to Reverb Fest tomorrow, or if you can figure out a way to duck out early, here is your reminder that crucial mid-'90s Olympia band Team Dresch--reunited but only sporadically active since 2004--are playing at Chop Suey tonight in a show to benefit Washington State for Marriage Equality.
This may be a weird take, but I've always thought that Team Dresch were the most emo-core of all the riot grrrl bands, in the original DC sense of the term--there's an introspection to their songs, and that quiet/loud tumult to their guitars. And their 1994 album for Chainsaw Records, Personal Best, is a stone-cold classic of its era. So, yeah, Reverb Fest or no, don't forget this one. With Pony Time, Your Heart Breaks, and the inimitable DJ Cherry Canoe ($10, 8pm, 21+).
