Video: Novoselic with the Vaselines

As Dave Lake already noted, Krist Novoselic joined The Vaselines on stage at Bumbershoot Monday night to play "Jesus Don't Want for a Sunbeam" in one of the awesomer moments of live music.

Novoselic manned the accordion, and the song was beautifully done. Here's some video:

As Novoselic and Eugene Kelly discussed on this site last week, Nirvana is never far from anyone's mind when it comes to the Vaselines, and those in the audience who'd never heard a lick from the band may have recognized at least two other songs played Monday night: "Molly's Lips" and "Son of a Gun," both of them also covered by Nirvana.

But the Vaselines are pros, and they claimed what was theirs, playing the whole set - even with a member of Nirvana on stage - as the Vaselines. Good on 'em.
