King Dude's Pagan Folk Gets a New Outlet: NPR

I was pleasantly surprised yesterday when I saw Seattle's own dark folk master King Dude popping up in my Twitter feed via NPR's All Songs Considered. Turns out, he debuted a new track from his upcoming full-length Burning Daylight (out in October on Dais Records) on the venerable show. Titled "Jesus in the Courtyard," (download it here), the song finds him in a slightly more rollicking mood than last year's mostly acoustic Love, though his Cash-low vocals remain as prominent as ever over a guitar line reminiscent of a Derek Fudesco/Cave Singers effort.

Listen to "Jesus in the Courtyard," and catch King Dude on tour-- he's playing Seattle three times in coming months, including Cairo's second-annual Vibrations festival August 25th. Dates and song after the jump.

8/25 - Seattle, WA - Vibrations Festival

9/13 - Victoria, BC - Rifflandia Festival

9/15 - Seattle, WA - Rebar

9/20 - Vancouver, BC - Olio Festival

11/9 - Portland, OR - Rotture w/Psychic TV

11/10 - Seattle, WA - Chop Suey w/Psychic TV
