Alessandra Rose

You Are Gold

Self-released, September 4, 2012

With her brooding piano compositions and deep, dusky vocals, Alessandra Rose sounds like she's perched just above the keys, personally doling out this set of nine smoldering pop songs, but that's actually band mate Christopher Jones on piano, keeping clean time with other seasoned players like Rusty Willoughby on drums. Rose's sultry tones next to these contributions makes You Are Gold a plush and well-conceived debut, and songs like "Love Junkie," with a touch of Madeleine Peyroux's honeyed, throaty warble, is fleshed with luscious melody but not over played.

Rose plays the Tractor Tavern September 8 with Smokey Brights and Jason Dodson.
