The Flavr Blue is a new electronic dance (EDM!!) project from the minds of producers/vocalists Parker Joe (of State of the Artist), Lace Cadence, and Hollis (of Canary Sing, and also formerly of our Voracious and Reverb blogs). Though hip hop and contemporary R&B make up most of the group members' back catalogues, the three have jumped head-first into down-tempo vocal-trance, and really sound like they've been doing it for years.

Astute observers will note that Parker and Cadence have teamed up before: earlier this year, they brought us their Rap&B Imagination EP, which blended their styles pretty evenly. The Flavr Blue is a complete departure, and the addition of Hollis enriches the mix. They have four songs from their upcoming (July 31st) album, Pisces, available for stream on their website in "Come Down", "In My Dream", "Blame You", and "F x F". The first and last of the four are a bit cliché in the lyrical department for me ("Float above the crowd/high above the ground/you don't have to come down" ("Come Down"); "We ride around in cars at night/we smoke and drink and fuck and fight/don't give a shit 'bout what you like" ("F x F")), but the meat in the sandwich is pretty tasty. "In My Dream" is an exceptionally catchy, upbeat dance track; and "Blame You" is an undeniably smooth slow jam. When they're on, they're on.
