Cairo's empire is expanding once more--this weekend, the label/venue/vintage store/art space is launching the Cairo Tape Club, a bi-monthly series of tapes featuring recordings of songs played at Cairo shows. The tapes will be limited to 50 copies per release, and they'll never be reissued. Release #1 is a collection of songs recorded at Cairo's Expo 89 festival last December, featuring Cairo perennials King Dude with Emily Denton, Witch Gardens, Stickers, Secret Colors, Case Studies, White Rainbow, Flexions, Ensemble Economique.

This Friday will serve as the official release for the Vol. 1 tape, at a show featuring two bands that appear on it, King Dude and Ensemble Economique, as well as Tunnels and Grave Babies. If you can't make the show, you can pre-order your copy of the tape or swing by Cairo or Wall of Sound on Capitol Hill to pick it up after Friday.

Until then, the tape is streaming on Soundcloud:

Look for CTC's Vol. 2 in August.
