First there was Tony Bennett, then they added Gotye, and now Bumbershoot has added Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings to the lineup of the festival, which goes down at the Seattle Center over Labor Day weekend. Other new additions include Best Coast, Missy Higgins, and a heavy metal showcase co-curated by El Corazon's Dana Sims, featuring Eyehategod, Prong, Black Breath, and The Spittin' Cobras.
Bumbershoot's also rolling out a new contest for local emerging talent competition called Opportunity Rocks, that will score one local band a gig at Bumbershoot and the Lake Union Wooden Boat Festival on July 4. To enter, send a video of your band to One Reel -- the festival organizers -- by Monday. A team of judges will whittle the entrants down to a group of semi-finalists, and the public will vote for the winner on the contest's web site.
