The Thermals will play the University of Washington's Ethnic Cultural Theatre on April 11 as part of Rainy Dawg Radio's ninth-annual Birthday Show.
Rainy Dawg Radio, the University of Washington's student-run, online-only radio station (where, for full disclosure, I'm a DJ) has had an annual birthday show for the past eight years, bringing in acts like Menomena, Blitzen Trapper, and last year, John Darnielle of the Mountain Goats. For its ninth birthday, the station has expanded the show into a three day festival from April 10 to 12, booking ambient electronic musician Oneohtrix Point Never, Portland pop-punk band The Thermals, and Minneapolis rapper Brother Ali.
The main draw here is the opportunity to see a band like The Thermals in a tiny, tiny venue--since UW's student union is under construction, the shows will take place in its Ethnic Cultural Theatre, a 150-person venue that's accustomed to holding open-mic nights rather than concerts.
Tickets cost $14 for the general public and can be purchased here. See the full lineup after the jump.
