M. Women's Faithful: The Ideal Music for Seattle's Gloomy/Angsty Winter Months

On Saturday, October 15, the local Couple Skate Records will officially release Faithful, the debut full-length from M. Women--the punk-rock trio of bassist Schanen Ryan, drummer Carrie Schaff, and guitarist Andrew McKibben (who runs Couple Skate along with friend-band Stephanie's Ian Judd). The album marks Couple Skate's first LP release--they've previously only released cassette tapes and seven-inches.

Faithful recalls the early days of Sonic Youth in all the right ways--understated vocals, truculent guitars, some turbulent percussion, and an underlying hint of chaos--the ideal kind of music for Seattle's gloomy/angsty winter months. Below, get a taste of it with "Dark Space":

And after the jump, a music video! . . .

Schanen Ryan created the above video for "Bedrest" during a recent trip to San Francisco (she also did the artwork on the album's front cover).

Faithful is available for pre-order right now on Couple Skate's website; it will also be sold at M. Women's record release show on Saturday, October 15 at Cairo. (The Family Stoned and Naomi Punk are opening).
