The Capitol Hill vintage boutique + label Cairo will be hosting its first ever Vibrations Festival on August 20 at the Volunteer Park Amphitheater. The festival will be headlined by two out-of-town acts--San Francisco-based, Kill Rock Stars-signed girl group Grass Widow and Portland funk duo Purple & Green. Grass Widow and Purple & Green will be supported by a super-strong cast of local artists who'll be familiar to those who frequent Cairo shows:

  • Flexions
  • Metal Chocolates
  • Stephanie
  • Witch Gardens
  • Charles Leo Gebhardt IV
  • Seapony

Of the festival, Cairo booker Ian Judd says, "VIBRATIONS is the result of our undying love for the insanely inspiring music scene in Seattle right now, complemented by a couple of our favorite regional acts, who seem to share a similar vision or vibe. Curating/putting the whole thing together has been hectic, but I've always wanted to do something like this and it's paying off b i g t i m e."

The festival will begin at 2 p.m. on August 20, which is a Saturday, and it's completely free.
