When Tom Delonge was no longer pleased with running around naked and singing about fornicating canines, he decided to take his talents down the road less traveled--space. He can now mark "full-length film" and "nationwide movie theater audience" off his checklist as well.

Following the announcement of Blink-182's "indefinite hiatus" in 2005, Delonge joined forces with drummer Atom Willard of The Offspring, guitarist David Kennedy of Box Car Racer, and Ryan Sinn of the Distillers (who has since been replaced by Matt Wachter of 30 Seconds to Mars) to create the supergroup Angels & Airwaves.

Now the four-piece is tackling the big screen in a big way. A&A's third studio album, Love, was issued as a free download to fans and coincides with a feature film of that name, though it never got much attention in theaters. That's likely to change.

Angels & Airwaves Presents LOVE Live will be taking place August 10 at 8 p.m. in Boston, and the performance will be shown live in theaters nationwide. Also on the agenda is a Q&A with Delonge, writer/director William Eubank, and lead actor Gunner Wright, as well as a showing of the film itself and a special three-song performance by the band.

"It took five years to complete this amazing project," said DeLonge in a press release. "I'm so happy it will finally be experienced the way we always envisioned--seen on the big screen in theaters all over the country in 5.1 sound."

LOVE is a sci-fi film that tackles the effects of isolation on lone astronaut Lee Miller, who is stuck in space above a dying planet Earth. Miller is faced with haunting memories and the constant craving for love and genuine human interaction. Check out the trailer below:

The story is finalized with A&A's fourth album, aptly titled LOVE II, and is slated for a release toward the end of 2011.

It may seem that this event is too far out to worry about tickets now, but they're already going fast. Tickets are available at participating theater box offices and fathomevents.com.

The following theaters in and around Seattle will be showing the live performance: Pacific Place 11, Century Theatres Federal Way 16, Thornton Place with IMAX, Auburn 17 Theatres, Bella Botega 11 Cinema, Alderwood 7 Theatres with RPX.
