Yesterday, Seattle expat producer/vocalist Jack Walsh (formerly known as Jack the Ripper) and local MC Cash Clepto dropped their collaborative EP Cloud Music, a radio-friendly nine-track affair featuring folks like Portland's Luck-One. I talked about the duo's show, tomorrow night at the Nectar Lounge for a steal at only five bones, in this week's Short List:

Just over a year ago a UW student going by the name of Jack the Ripper dropped his debut producer record, graced by some of Seattle's best MCs. Now relocated to the Bay Area, he's come together with more-than-capable local MC Cash Clepto to release their radio-friendly Cloud Music EP. The duo's put most of its initial weight behind debut single "Friday Night"--thankfully not a Rebecca Black remix, but a track that could be (and has been) mistaken for the latest single from Mike Posner, thanks to the club-friendly bass line and Walsh's half-whispered vocals. Cloud Music promises more of the same--not wholly original, but plenty enjoyable for lovers of pop-rap sensibilities.

I'll stand by my prediction of the nine-track project based on the two initial singles--it may sound like the KUBE tracks you're already comfortable with, but Cloud Music is solidly constructed from danceable beats and catchy raps. You can stream the entirety of Cloud Music below, and download it for free if the sound strikes your fancy.
