For all the talk of '60s harmonies infiltrating the current class' records, very little ink is spilt giving propers to The Mamas and the Papas, whose contributions to that canon best CSNY's and rival the Beach Boys'. With the city's music scene percolating with non-ironic cover bands (the Rolling Stones, American Girls), the soil is fertile for The Mamas & the Papas to get their due.
But, gentlemen, you've gotta do it with a twist. Leave the drums, guitars, and ladies at home. Roll a cappella here, and own every syllable of "You don't understaaaaaaaaaaand, that a girl like me can't love, just one maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan."
