Speaking of LAKE, the musically adventurous yet temperamentally mellow Olympia choral pop ensemble recently released the above video for their song "Within/Without," off their forthcoming album Giving and Receiving (out June 15th on K Records).
And speaking of that title, yesterday Sub Pop released the first single from recent chillwave signee Washed Out's forthcoming debut LP, similarly titled Within and Without. Hmmm. The single is called "Eyes Be Closed," and it doesn't sound like much of a departure from Ernest Greene's previously established, Portlandia-scoring electro gauze sound. The cover art below is sexy enough to have been ripped from a Cosmo article asking, "Is This the Most Satisfying Sex Position?" Expect these albums to sing at you awkwardly in your living room and pleasantly penetrate your eardrums all summer long, respectively.
Semi-related obscure bonus band!: Internal/External, the turn-of-the-millennium K Records electronic experiment of Paul Shuster, here featuring the vocal talents of fellow one-time Olympian Kathleen Hannah (who of course explored similarly electronic angles in her Julie Ruin and Le Tigre projects):
