We normally reserve our "Reverb Questionnaire" for non-music folks like Michele Norris and Michael Chabon, but in preparation for the massive trip south, we tweaked our standard questions and presented them to a few of the local emissaries making the journey. Here's what we learned about Kyle Musselwhite of the Globes.
Every March, the entire music industry descends on Austin, Texas, for the South by Southwest Music Conference and Festival March 15 to 20, and Seattle's scene is no exception. Dozens of bands are making the trip, and they'll be playing more shows and downing more free Red Stripes than can be calculated.

SW: What music have you been listening to today? Did you like it?
Musselwhite: I listened to "Table Tennis" by Flying Lotus because it has the sound of ping-pong balls. Ping-pong is very musical.
What's your preferred method for listening to music (iPod, car, home stereo, etc.)?
Tapes in the car.
When was the last time you heard "Stairway to Heaven"? Did you turn it off?
On repeat in a rental car on the island of Hawaii, pre-dawn, looking for fresh lava. Low volume. Everyone else in the car was too focused on finding lava, they didn't realize it was still going. Of course, it was all I could pay attention to, and I was powerless to turn it off. Probably listened to it about a dozen times in a row.
Do you play an instrument?
I'm pretty good at drumming on my belly. I can get about 10 different sounds. Hoping to perform at the farmers market in Spokane this summer.
Do you still listen to anything you were listening to in high school?
Haven't really been able to afford to buy any new records since high school. So, yes, I do.
What was the first band/artist you saw in concert? Would you see them again?
One of the first concerts I remember is seeing Kodo, the Japanese Taiko group, in Seattle Center. I was going to see them again a couple weeks ago, but the show was canceled. It really freaked me out as a kid, so I was hoping to have the same experience now that I'm so grown-up.
What was the last band/artist you saw in concert? Worth your time?
Cheap Girls of Lansing, Mich., in Spokane. Fuck yes.
When you sing karaoke, what's your go-to number?
"(I've Had) the Time of My Life" from Dirty Dancing. Duet. If I can't find a partner, I have no problem singing both parts myself.
How do you feel about ABBA?
I feel great about ABBA. How do you feel about ABBA? How do you think ABBA feels about you?
What is the last song you want to hear before you die?
Probably "(I've Had) the Time of My Life." Or "Stairway to Heaven." Or "Table Tennis." Any of those would be fine.
What's one indispensable accessory for this year's SXSW?
Last year I had a lot of trouble finding clean toilets. This year I'll be wearing Depends.
How are you getting down to Austin, and how sure are you that your mode of transportation will get you all the way there?
Driving. Actually, not sure at all. Pushing 300,000 miles on the odometer.
