SW Exclusive: Listen to John Roderick Duet With BOAT on "Landlocked"

When he's not spending his time penning inspirational columns for us and further delaying a new Long Winters record, John Roderick likes to give a hand to his fellow Seattle musicians--like producing Shelby Earl's new record.

Roderick's latest collaborative venture is a duet with the pop-rock quartet BOAT--the song is called "Landlocked" and will appear on BOAT's forthcoming LP, Dress Like Your Idols. That album doesn't hit stores until March 22, but Reverb's got the premiere of the track with our man Roderick. "Landlocked" bubbles and rings with energy and vibrant guitars, not unlike a Long Winters song, and you can hear J. Rod howling along from the very first verse. (Just kidding. Roderick's voice blends really nicely with BOAT frontman D. Crane's).

Of the song, Roderick tells us:

I love working with BOAT because they are relentlessly upbeat and super-duper positive and fun, and like all the best upbeat, positive music there is, at its core, a howling chasm of unmitigated horror more disturbing than the scariest Scandanavian mythology made real.

BOAT's playing an album release show, btw, on Friday, March 25 at the Tractor Tavern. Pickwick and Concours d'Elegance will open; the show's at 9:30 p.m. and tickets are $8.
