Sub Pop's investing in the electro-pop game--the label's recent signing is Niki and the Dove, a collaboration between Swedish musicians Malin Dahlström and Gustaf Karlöf that formed just a year ago. Dahlström and Karlöf both hail from Stockholm--a good place for a pop musician to be from, if history proves correct. Karlöf plays the guitar and keys, while Dahlström sings--she's got a slippery, versatile voice that lends itself well to the band's rhythmic beats and glittering melodies. Think a less-scary Fever Ray?
Niki and the Dove just announced a headlining show at the Crocodile next week--Wednesday, April 6, and the cover is a scandalous $5.
