Recent Seattle transplants Motopony announced today they've signed with tinyOGRE Entertainment, pulling ahead of the pack of local acts racing for the title of most successful band with "pony" in the name (we're looking at you, Pony Time, Seapony, and the Hello Pony). The New York-based label will put out their album this spring.
Fronted by Daniel Blue (those of you with Tacoma pride may know him as the designer of the ubiquitous "253 heart"), the group gained attention from KEXP and City Arts, who even sent an artist to illustrate their recent New York showcase at Piano's. But their propulsive R&B-meets-folk-rock was bound make its way to a larger audience before long.
Luckily, you still have time to catch them locally before that happens. They play February 23 at the High Dive and March 8 at Neumos.
