The Art of the Cameo: Jon Augustavo Captures Seattle Hip-Hop for Eighty4 Fly's "Faded"

After his MTVU run with J. Pinder's "Upside Down" music video, Seattle-to-L.A. transplant filmmaker Jon Augustavo returns with a new short for the Eighty4 Fly camp--"Faded" comes from the DJ B-Mello-hosted 1st Class In Fly World mixtape. Starring Dyme Def's Brainstorm, the video also features a virtual who's-who of local hip-hop cameos from Spaceman, Avatar Young Blaze, Logics, Wizdom, Grynch, Geo of the Blue Scholars, Lace Cadence, Tay Sean, Sol, Thig Nat, Mario Sweet, and Justo. And that's just a sampling--the full list comes after the visuals. (Full disclosure: my name is also on said list.) In addition, Jon Jon promises the storyline--which seems to be a day-in-the-life type adventure--will continue with another video.

From the mouth of the artist (aka his Tumblr):

Was watching Lock Stock the other day and said hey, I wanna do an entire video like the part where Eddy loses all his money. So I had my pops help me build a rig and boom we got this.

In other Eighty4 Fly news, the Fly Guy dropped the first single off his forthcoming project Flight Eighty4; "Weed" is a pretty self-explanatory title, and the Sean Carson-sung chorus "I smoke weed--and I'm the best at doing what I do" clears up any confusion. But hell, subtlety is overrated.
