A few Phantogram fans threw themselves into a tizzy after their favorite band's music was featured on MTV's Skins on Monday (their new music video for "When I'm Small" also debuted on MTV that night following the episode). One fan went so far as to call the band "Fuckenn selloutsss [sp]" on their Facebook page.
When asked about this seeming controversy, Phantogram's manager, Wes Howerton of Barsuk Records, expressed zero doubts about the band's MTV connection, telling SW:
The producers of Skins are big fans of Phantogram and will probably end up using their songs 4 or 5 times throughout the first season. MTV has historically been a place where bands can get great exposure and the opportunity for Phantogram to be heard by so many people is welcomed. A lot of people have become fans of the band over the past 2 years and this opportunity would probably never even of happened without all their support.
I hope everyone loves the video as much as the band does. They're really proud of it.
What, you don't like Skins? Maybe this clip of the show will change your mind.
