I've Listened to the Jack White-Produced Wanda Jackson Album Every Day Since It Was Released, and Now She's Playing My Birthday, May 6 at Neumos

I've been saying this a lot lately, but CIRCLE THIS ONE ON YOUR CALENDARS! May 6. Neumos. Wanda Jackson. Tickets go on sale Saturday via Etix.com/Moe Bar for $20.

I'm the first to admit that I hadn't schooled myself in the art that is Ms. Wanda Jackson before word came down that Jack White was producing her new record, The Party Ain't Over, and I got curious. The Party Ain't Over, released Jan. 25, resulted in the best-case scenario for a legend/kid collaboration: a genuinely stunning record that introduces a new crop of appreciators to one of the best of rock's past.

Holy damn, is this record a keeper. This show is a must-see for fans of rockabilly, soul, Americana, bluegrass, blues, rhythm & blues, R&B, gangsta rap, or indie smack.
