Also Tonight: The Intersection of Hippie and Indie--aka Finn Riggins--Sweats It Out at the Sunset

I've written before about Finn Riggins, old friends of mine from our time in Moscow, Idaho. These days they spend their time wandering the nation's roads with folks like Built to Spill, right at the intersection of indie and hippie.

These kids used to be straight-up 40-minute jammers. Now they're signed to Portland's Tender Loving Empire, and they're bringing the good stuff from their extended-play days (experimentation as dogma, love of a tasteful jam, etc.) with the best of their more indie-loving habitat (concise tunes, pop melodies). The two best examples of their current coordinates are the tunes "Dali" (above) and "Wake" (after the jump), from 2009's Vs. Wilderness.

Tonight at the Sunset, listen to them workshop of a few of the new tunes they've been cooking up in beautiful southern Idaho. The show is $7, starts at 9:30, and Tea Cozies and World's Greatest Ghosts are also on the bill. You can also catch them on 90.3 KEXP's Audioasis Saturday at 8 p.m.
