Today Reverb Recommends You Sit Down With Macklemore & Ryan Lewis For "The Social Club"--And Then Fall Down Tone's Vimeo Hole"/>
Update: The show sold out before making it out of presale. Much praise to the whole bill for that one. Here's hoping for a second night.
About to headline The Showbox on February 25 with help from Grieves & Budo, The Physics, and Sol--the presale is on now, promo code "showbox" (hint, hint)--Macklemore & Ryan Lewis are continuing one hell of a ride in the wake of their 2010-topping Vs. Redux EP. In the meantime, NYC-based photographer and storyteller Tone released a video shot when he caught up with the duo amid their East Coast tour--another round of "The Social Club," previously featuring an awesome conversation with The Blue Scholars. Thoughts on sincerity, perspective, an intimate look into Mack's already deeply personal journey, and some words from the oft-overlooked producer--all present, backed with an Oddisee beat. The edits might be a little choppy, but the humor and quality are there in spades.
Once you start exploring Tone's Vimeo page, it's easy to lose yourself; there are live clips of shows from artists like Too $hort, interviews with folk-like streetwear designers Leroy Jenkins, and other words of wisdom from the likes of Raphael Saadiq and U-N-I. After that, it's just a short leap to his website Photo By Tone--as clean and crisp as the photography it showcases--and before you know it, an hour just vanished into thin air.
