Leighton Meester is best known for playing fashionable queen bee Blair Waldorf on the CW drama Gossip Girl. But the actress has repeatedly expressed her desire to also be a recording artist, an often dangerous ambition. (Just ask Jennifer Love Hewitt.) But Meester has already experienced some modest success, thanks to a featured appearance in the Cobra Starship song "Good Girls Go Bad," which peaked at #7 on the Billboard Hot 100.
In the new movie Country Strong, Meester acts alongside Gwyneth Paltrow and Tim McGraw as a beauty queen-turned-singer. The soundtrack is a pleasant surprise. Turns out Blair Waldorf churns out a charming rendition of Rascal Flatts' "Words I Couldn't Say," and better still, an upbeat original song, "Summer Girls," that you can listen to here.
A television actress who can top the pop charts and hold her own next to Tim McGraw in a movie about country music? Eat your heart out, Serena van der Woodsen Blake Lively.
