Phantogram had a bang-up 2010, releasing their debut record, Eyelid Movies, on Barsuk Records (which was one of SW's favorite albums of the year), and touring nearly nonstop, including a couple of sold-out Seattle shows. Their next stage of conquest? TV!
Set your DVRS--the Saratoga Springs duo will make their television debut on Wednesday, February 2 on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon. Their performance is sure to hook some viewers--besides the fact that their trippy electronic music kills live, they're both very good-looking people (see above photo) and will therefore likely be extremely telegenic.
The big question for Phantogram fans--what're they going to play??
Logic points towards the Eyelid Movies' single, "Mouthful of Diamonds," which is admittedly a striking and lovely song.
But my pick would be Phantogram's even earlier single, "Running From the Cops." It's got a killer beat, it's tougher and edgier and therefore more attention-getting, and while Sarah Barthel obviously has a stunning voice, methinks it's time for Josh Carter's singing to get some love--his voice, especially on "Running From the Cops," is smooth, creeping, and sexy as hell.
