Listen to "You Turned Clear in the Sun," The Best Track Off Telekinesis' Fantastic New 12 Desperate Straight Lines

We at SW received a copy of Telekinesis' second LP 12 Desperate Straight Lines in the mail a couple weeks ago, and can therefore attest that it's fantastic. Back in November, Michael Benjamin Lerner premiered a song from the record, an infectiously stuttering pop track called "Car Crash." Now NPR has another preview: the album's opening track, "You Turn Clear in the Sun," which is our personal favorite song on the entire record.

The song begins with light guitar-strumming before breaking into clacking drums and Lerner singing such mopey lyrics as "I never loved you/I never loved anyone." And then there's synth, and a warm bass line, and despite those sad-sack lyrics, it bursts into a beautifully sunny melody. Again, highly infectious.

Merge Records will release 12 Desperate Straight Lines on February 12. Telekinesis is touring on back of the record this spring, including a show at the Crocodile on March 26.
