New Yorkers Paul de Jong and Nick Zammuto of the Books have become somewhat legendary for creating their own genre of music, combining speech clips, samples, visual pastiches, and live vocals, guitar and cello. I saw them play the Triple Door late last year and it was extremely trippy in all the right ways. A live Books show is a concert experience like no other -- anyone who's experienced it will attest to that. Now the duo is touring in support of their latest, The Way Out, a New Age/self-helped themed record.
The Books will hit Neumos this Saturday, December 4 at 8 p.m. The Black Heart Procession will open, the show is all ages, and tickets are $20 -- unless you want to go for free.In which case -- email me at firstname.lastname@example.org by tomorrow at noon. You'll be entered in a drawing to win a pair of tickets to the show.
