The Rock & Roll Circus Is Coming to Darrell's Tavern"/>
Used to be, what passed for entertainment at Darrell's Tavern was "Whipping Post" on the jukebox and a drunken drywaller passing out face-down in a bowl of cashews at the bar. But newish owner Dan Dyckman has put such bleakness in the rearview, programming everything from ska to standup comedy at the Shoreline dive while retaining all of its aesthetic anti-sheen.
More ambitiously, Dyckman has fired up a quarterly "Rock & Roll Circus," with this quarter's installment set for Saturday, November 13. Walking the tightrope (i.e, stage) will be former members of Mudhoney, Mother Love Bone, the Fastbacks, the Tripwires, the Cops, Best Kissers in the World, Alcohol Funnycar, Petrol Emotion, Lazy Susan and Young Fresh Fellows.
The lineup is as follows, although they won't necessarily perform in this order: The Basements, Kim Virant, STAG, Guided By Dan, The Thing Changers, and DJ AOR & Friends. The music gets underway at 9 p.m. (although Darrell's is a great place to while away an entire Saturday afternoon and night), and cover is a mere $6--a buck an act.
