After the first round of festival announcements that included Seattle's Head and the Heart and Telekinesis--but surprisingly no representatives of our hip-hop scene, or much hip-hop in general--a second series of announcements for SXSW's 25th installment revealed that Seattle-to-NY transplant Grieves has been invited to Austin.
The talented emcee and Rhymesayers signee, who made waves with his 2008 release 88 Keys & Counting, has been working on his label debut with fellow Seattle ex-pat and producer Budo for much of the year--that is, when the duo wasn't touring Europe or crossing the states with labelmates Atmosphere. It's been a busy year for Benjamin Laub, and 2011 is already off to a good start.
For the rest of the new barrage--including Maps & Atlases, MURS and Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin--check the press release. The as-of-yet incomplete list is avaiable on the SXSW website.
