Holding out for a Kinks reunion? It's not gonna happen.
In a recent interview with the UK's Daily Mail, Dave Davies -- now 63 -- shot down any rumors of his band getting back together. Dave says he only communicates with brother -- and Kinks frontman, now 66 -- Ray Davies via email, that they recently quarreled over performing and appearing at Pete Quaife's memorial service earlier this year (Quaife was the Kinks' founding bassist and died in June), that Ray stomped on Dave's 50th birthday cake, and that Dave has little money from his years as a rock star -- as the majority of the royalties went to Ray. Here are some more choice bits from the interview:
"You've heard of vampires. Well, Ray sucks me dry of ideas, emotions and creativity. It's toxic for me to be with him. He's a control freak... With him, it's 'me, me, me.' He thinks he is The Kinks."
"Ray's an a***hole."
"He's a narcissist. I walked into a bookshop a month ago and picked up Tony Blair's autobiography. I looked at the picture and felt sick. I thought, 'Hello, he's got the same thing [as Ray].' It's some sort of grandiose disorder.''
"I think Ray has been happy for only three years in his life. And those were the three years before I was born."
