That's the best $2 I've spent in a long time. It's easy to forget how great this guy's post-Beatles output has been. Yes, he's made a good number of missteps, especially when his catalogue is stacked against that of his writing partner -- who unfortunately wasn't here long enough to make the same number of mistakes. But this 1970 gem is absolutely stellar (as are a couple of his recent records, btw).
It's the nuance of the album--mix of instrumentals and short ditties with standard-format pop tracks--that makes it so listenable. So many albums are the same thing--yes, often with great effect--one after another. I hear albums all the time that I think would be more compelling trimmed down to an EP. But what McCartney does here is take an EP's worth of killer melodies and verses and pieces them together with instrumentals.
There's a reason the man's a knight.
